"Midnight Malice" is a work-in-progress animated short film made for the RIT School of Film and Animation's weeklong 2026 film jam they host every semester. All jam participants were given three random words (in this case "Midnight", "Soup" and "Memory") as a prompt, and allowed to use one, two, or all three as a theme for their film. I chose the word "Midnight".
Using Clip Studio Paint and ToonSquid, I storyboarded, animated, composited, and illustrated all of the backgrounds for this film by myself in one week, which is why it is as of yet incomplete. The character designs and story for this film are loosely inspired by cartoonist Antonio Prohias's famous comic strip Spy vs. Spy, and are set in a cyberpunk science fiction world that I am developing through creating stories of varying mediums, such as animation, comics, and video game development.
